Peter Scott remembered

Bowls Taranaki sadly advises that Peter Scott passed away on October 12. Peter had a long and successful career in bowls, both on and off the green, in his 40-plus years in the sport. He played in Taranaki, Wanganui, Wellington and Manawatu as a tough, tenacious competitor. He won centre titles in both Taranaki and Wanganui as well as featuring in the closing rounds of the Dominion on a number of occasions. He was a driving force behind Police bowls in NZ and served on both the Taranaki and Wanganui Executives. When he returned to his home province of Taranaki in mid-2019, he became Executive Officer for Bowls Taranaki, a role he regretfully was forced to retire from in mid-2020 with ill health. At the same time he was breathing new life into the Waimea club, which was a further illustration of Peter’s ability to branch together the traditions of the game, which he cared so deeply for, with an eye for innovation and the future. Thank you, Peter, and God speed to you Big Bird.
